The project comprised the refurbishment and extension of a simple two-room early 19th century Estate Worker’s Cottage. The cottage is a Protected Structure. The brief was to transform it into a contemporary light-filled two-bedroom dwelling. A third bedroom was to be flexible to accommodate a home-office and be a guest room which would occupy the existing cottage structure.

The project was undertaken for a Chicago-based Irish family seeking to relocate back to Ireland.

Cormac Dooley worked on my cottage with a dual vision; restore the existing 1820’s stone cottage and to build a modern addition to suit my family. After meeting with Cormac and discussing our needs, a beautiful design was agreed upon. What was derelict was restored with sympathetic materials, architecture, and a beautiful modern build to the rear.   Our experience working with Dooley Cummins was both professional and rewarding. Cormac was responsive and knowledgeable. He brought solutions before problems manifested. Without reservation I would highly recommend this firm.
