4-bed Farmhouse Refurbishment, Co. Wicklow

The project comprised the refurbishment and extension of a complex comprising a 19th century farmhouse and associated outbuildings. The property had miscellaneous extensions over the 20th century but was dilapidated and becoming derelict. On completion the house had 380 m² of accommodation.

Our client, who had mobility issues following an accident, wanted a wheelchair-friendly home but one that was more about accessibility not disability. The main house needed spacious circulation and bathroom areas. One of the outbuildings was converted to a double garage with direct access to the house. Another outbuilding was developed as a gym, as the client is a keen sportswoman.

The polished concrete floors were installed with a tolerance of 1mm across the house and the kitchen was designed around having different levels of work surface with easy access to all appliances.
